  24. INSTALLATION:
  25.  
  26. This program was written in Visual Basic. It requires 
  27. Windows 3.0 or later and the VBRUN100.DLL module.

  29. While it can be run on a stand-alone PC, this program
  30. was designed to be run on a LAN. Because of that, certain
  31. 'stealth' features were built into it. It was designed so 
  32. that it can be installed in a public LAN directory, but
  33. only those who know what it is and how to run it can access
  34. it.

  36. The first stealth feature is the program's name (WB2VOVL).
  37. If you put a program named WINBATTL or BATTLSHIP on a public
  38. LAN directory, people will notice! This name is vague enough
  39. that people won't be sure what it is. If you are running on
  40. a stand-alone PC, you can rename it to any name you like.

  42. The second stealth feature is the lack of an icon. If you 
  43. minimize this game or if you put this .EXE in a group, a generic 
  44. empty screen type icon is displayed. Once again, so someone poking
  45. around won't discover what it is. A real Battleship .ICO file is 
  46. included if you want to add it to your Windows configuration.

  48. The final stealth feature is in running the program. If someone
  49. executes the WB2VOVL.EXE program from the public LAN directory, a 
  50. dummy Windows error dialog box is displayed. The only button is an 
  51. 'OK' button, which ends the program. There are two ways around this.
  52. If you put 'BB2' on the command line after WB2VOVL.EXE, the dummy 
  53. error screen will be skipped and the real game screen will display. 
  54. If you are already at the dummy error screen, you can bypass it by 
  55. keying in: BB2. Do not hit enter or any other keys, just: BB2. If you
  56. are running on a stand-alone PC, add the BB2 password to the command
  57. that executes the program. Example: WB2VOVL.EXE BB2
  58.  
  59. To install for LAN play, just copy the WB2VOVL.EXE program to a LAN
  60. directory accessable by anyone who wants to play the game. Then, anyone
  61. who wants to play, can run it from the LAN directory. Instructions
  62. on how to play over the LAN are in the HELP menu selection of the program.

  64. To install for stand-alone play, just copy to any sub-directory and run
  65. the program from Windows. Add the BB2 password on the command line.
